How I Attracted A “Police Post” To Obubra’s Warring Communities — Okpechi

 

 

Rt. Hon. Dr Okpechi Friday Gabriel, the member representing Obubra I State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly and the frontline aspirant for the Obubra-Etung Federal Constituency, said he attracted a Police Post to the Obubra Local Government Area of Cross River State to help curb the incessant inter-communal clashes.

“By the grace of God, I have represented my people and I want to represent you again because of major stagnation in Obubra,” the lawmaker stated during the PDP Obubra Caucus meeting/debate at the PDP chapter Chairman’s residence, Godwin Igwe.

He said Obubra is plagued by insecurity, which we must address.

I tried to persuade the governor to build a military installation across the river as a house member, but all we got was a police station. Let us make the best of our buffer zones to tackle our war problems.”

When asked how he plans to close policy gaps through legislation, Okpechi responded, “Because of my experience, please allow me to speak. Because this policy is established through budgeting, you must work closely with the executive. Since the executive is in charge of the budget, I’ll work with the national government to ensure that we get it right in Obubra. I recommend that we have technocrats in Obubra, assuming I’m not the one. Let us use these opportunities to influence our country’s budgets. So this budgets will help our people. Let’s endeavour to help our Obubra sons to get federal appointments so we can have inputs.
