I Reclaimed PDP’s Mandate When Obubra Was In Opposition, I Have The Capacity To Do It Again — Okpechi
The Obubra-Etung Federal House of Representatives hopeful come 2023, and the member representing Obubra I State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Dr Okpechi Friday Gabriel said he has the capacity and acceptability to win the National Assembly election in 2023 for his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The lawmaker who decried how the people of Obubra-Etung Federal Constituency have seen the worst of leadership in the past 7-years, said he will not go to the National Assembly and disappeared.
Continuing, Okpechi said he has the courage and confidence to stand on the floor of the National Assembly to talk, and fight for his people.
The frontline aspirant who made the statement during an interactive session with some critical stakeholders and party delegates at Franco Teddy’s Hotel in Obubra Local Government Area of Cross River State, lamented how Obubra I State Constituency became an opposition in the House of Assembly after it lost its seat to the APC.
His said;
“I will not go to the National Assembly and disappeared. I have the courage and confidence to stand on the floor of the National Assembly, to talk and fight for my people. I will speak for my people always. What the party need is somebody that can win election. Now, look at my history, am I a failure?
“When Alex Irek defeated Hon. Fabian Okpa in this our constituency and brought badluck to us, out of 25 Members, 24 were in PDP, we were the only State Constituency in the House of Assembly that was in the opposition, and we needed to reclaim that mandate; who did it? Was it not me? When Alex Irek stole our mandate, because Hon. Fabian Okpa couldn’t win the election. Who came and won that election? I was the one that defeated Alex Irek and reclaimed our mandate”.
“Today, a similar scenario has played out again. We voted Mike Etaba in, we suffered to ensure that he came out victoriously! Has he not abandoned that mandate? Are we not looking for somebody to go and rescue the Federal Constituency? Am I not qualified to rescue, he questioned.
