Like the fine football duo, Christiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, President Muhammadu Buhari unleashed several skills to end the existence of “Radio Biafra”, a broadcast medium allegedly owned and ran by the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People Of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
According to the Federal Government, the Radio was owned and ran illegally to spread propaganda which is capable of disintegrating the country. In this regard, the location of the radio was uncovered while the brains behind it, including Kanu were arrested and severely punished.
To fully quench the fire, the Nigerian Army launched a special operation tagged “Operation Python Dance I&II”, after which the IPOB was wholly proscribed via a court order secured by the Muhammadu Buhari led government.
Unfortunately, when the deadly python of some suspected Fulani herdsmen raised its head by killing, kidnapping for ransom, looting and grabbing lands across the country, some Nigerians including the Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka and former President Olusegun Obasanjo who recently alleged that the Federal Government is currently promoting a hidden “Fulanization & Islamazation Agenda” have said the government is not doing enough to end insecurity in the country.
While alerting Nigerians of an alleged move of the Fulani tribe to dominate others in the country, Obasanjo added that agents of such move are scattered across the country perpetrating killings, kidnapping for ransom, destroying farm produce among other crimes.
Wole Soyinka who is a known critic of Obasanjo for the first time urged Nigerians not to disregard the former president’s claims, adding that the recent kidnap of a lecturer of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, an Ijesa Chief among others are confirmation of the allegation.
While trying to figure out what the truth is, Nigerians again woke to a shocking news that the Buhari led Federal Government has gotten the licence to establish an Amplitude Modulation frequency (Radio) to broadcast in Hausa-Fulani language to educate herdsmen.
In a country with the Africa’s largest Radio Network, Radio Nigeria that broadcasts across the country in nine native languages, one would easily conclude that an invention to specially address a section of the country is a condemnable waste of resources, especially in a time when Nigeria remains the world capital of poverty.
If not that Nigerian leaders are poor students of history, the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu and his advisers who brought this idea should know that such invention could be misused or abused by its handlers against other sections of the country like it happened between the two major natives of Rwanda, especially as it will only broadcast in Fulani language.
If “Radio Biafra” was ran against national unity, what about this upcoming “Fulani Radio”?
In the spirit of National Unity, I hereby call on elders who are current and past leaders of this country regardless of political and religious affiliations to join me in condemning this act of segregation and make it die on arrival as it will further divide the already divided country.
While the Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government must be supported in its bid to end insecurity across the country, a disastrous move like the Herdsmen Radio” must be laid to grave like the earlier proposed “Cattle Colony”.
If Nnamdi Kanu’s RADIO BIAFRA was illegal, Buhari’s HERDSMEN RADIO remains null and void.
