Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, expressed shock and sadness over Yeye Kemi Nelson’s untimely death on Sunday. Nelson was an activist, a well-known politician, and one of his closest friends.

Nelson passed away on Sunday after a protracted fight with a deadly illness that had kept her out of the spotlight for a long time.

Nelson was a nationalist and a grassroots organizer, according to a statement by Tinubu. “Mrs. Nelson ranked highly within our progressive front,” he said. She devoted herself to building the Nigeria of our dreams and was tenacious in her pursuit of it.

She may very well have maintained her prosperity as a private citizen, only caring about her family’s well-being. Instead, she devoted herself fervently to politics as a means of serving the general welfare.

“Throughout her life, Mrs. Nelson made significant contributions to the advancement of Nigeria, Lagos, and progressivism. She established the Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Centers in various Local Government Areas throughout Lagos while serving as Commissioner, and they are still in operation today, empowering underprivileged women, men, and youths in the State, the official added.

We won’t ever forget Yeye Nelson, said Tinubu. She will be remembered for her prior sacrifices made on behalf of Lagos and, in fact, Nigeria. She will be honored for her dedication to the underdogs and women.

“I will never forget Yeye for her dedication, sense of responsibility, unwavering compassion for others, and for always standing by us and our progressive cause.

“I feel sorry for her family, especially her devoted husband and kids. Together with our APC family and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, I lament. I share her sorrow with all of her friends and family in the nation, especially the First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Buhari.

“An illustrious woman has been lost to us all. I hope we all have the fortitude to deal with this loss. I ask the Almighty God to give her eternal rest. Until tomorrow, Yeye Kemi Nelson. Yeye of the Universe, good night.
