Imo Unrest: Tension In Imo State As Rochas Okorocha Supporters Vow To Fight Back Over Yesterday’s Attack
Supporters of Rochas Okorocha, the former Imo State Governor, have expressed their determination to “fully respond” to the assault on him, WeetalknaijaBlog can authoritavely report.
The former governor had the best structure in the county, they boasted.
They accused Governor Hope Uzodinma on Sunday of having unleashed hundreds of thugs against him.
After he supervised the unsealing of the Royal Spring Palm Estate in Owerri, Okorocha and his associates were arrested.
The property that the state government had locked up was connected to his wife, Nkechi.
Okorocha’s spokesman, Sam Onwuemeodo, alleged that his boss had been assaulted by Uzodinma’s Special Adviser on Special Duties, Chinasa Nwanari.
His statement accused the aide of storming the estate in the former governor’s convoy and damaging cars.
Onwuemeodo noted that the Senator representing Imo West District was assaulted by policemen and “more than 1000 armed thugs” led by Nwaneri.
Onwuemeodo maintained that with only his personal aides he was Okorocha.
As they unfold, we are still witnessing activities. Okorocha has the state’s best political system and teams of backers. He would not have traveled with his personal aides alone if he had expected the attack.
“Never was Okorocha a violent man. A new, but ugly chapter in state politics has been opened by this expected but unprovoked and unwarranted assault. “We will fully react to the situation,” the statement read.
