Former Nigerian President Dr.Goodluck Jonathan has condoled with the family of Alhaji Shehu Shagari and the parents of Sokoto State over the demise of the nation’s Second Republic President, describing him as a nation builder who cemented a wonderful relationship between the North and South.
Ex-President Jonathan acknowledged this in a tribute to the nation’s first govt President, noting that Shagari was a patriot who positioned service to humanity and fatherland above non-public curiosity.
In an announcement by Ikechukwu Eze, the earlier President’s spokesman, Dr. Jonathan extra described Shagari as a pleasing man with a transparent coronary coronary heart who was trustworthy and selfless in service.
He acknowledged: “Late President Shagari was a very good man with a transparent coronary coronary heart. As a President he was humble, trustworthy and selfless in service. He was in deed an actual democrat who left no one uncertain about his loyalty to his nation, love for peace, need for unity and imaginative and prescient for a greater Nigeria.
“Shagari was an distinctive chief and exemplary statesman whose modesty, dedication to widespread good and deep sense of patriotism will proceed to encourage many generations of Nigerians.
He will be remembered as a teacher, parliamentarian and President whose model of service was anchored on diligence, broad-mindedness and humility.”
