JUST IN!!! Lagos Governor, Sanwo-Olu Declares Curfew

 

 

On Saturday, July 24, 2021, the Lagos State Government has ordered a 7-hour curfew across the state.

Gbenga Omotoso, the Commissioner of Information, made the news on Thursday.

The short curfew is in place to allow the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) to conduct smooth elections for Chairmen and Councillors in all 57 Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos.

 

On Saturdays, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., movement across the state is restricted.

This was stated in a news release issued by the.

“The limitation would make it easier for voters, election materials, and LASIEC personnel to move around, ensuring election sanctity, effective monitoring, and better security.

The statement added, “All eligible voters are encouraged to participate in the elections, which will require the participation of all inhabitants.”

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State gave party flags to its candidates in the state’s upcoming Local Council elections on July 24.

 

On Saturday, council elections will be held in the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State, according to the Nigerian News Agency (NAN).

At the APC Secretariat in Ikeja, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who gave the flags to the 57 chairmanship and vice-chairmanship candidates, said the party was confident of victory.

Mr Sanwo-Olu asked all candidates and party leaders to work together in order to win the election with a landslide.

He encouraged party leaders in various local governments to offer flags to all aspirants for councillorship.

He described the official handing over of APC flags to all candidates as significant and important
