Kwara Assembly Begins Commissioner Nominees Next Week

The Kwara State House of Assembly is to begin, in batches, the screening of the state commissioner nominees Tuesday next week.

The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt Hon Yakubu Danladi Yakubu said this today after reading a message from the state Governor, Mallam AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman, conveying the names of additional 6 Commissioner nominees to the House.

The third batch of the nominees are Afolabi Adenike Khairat, Ifelodun Local Government Area, Fatimah Bisola Ahmed, Ilorin West Local Government Area and Abosede Deborah Aremu, Irepodun Local Government Area.

Others are Funke Juliana Oyedun, Isin Local Government Area, Ilyasu Rotimi Suleiman, Moro Local Government Area, and Oyeyemi OYesunbo Florence, Oke Ero Local Government Area.

Rt Hon Salihu directed the commissioner nominees to forward 35 copies of their Curriculum Vitae in 35 files to the Clerk of the House before 2pm Thursday this week.

Recall that Governor AbdulRazaq had earlier in two batches sent names of 10 commissioner nominees to the House for screening.

Meanwhile, the House of Assembly has called on State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to review the activities of the state security outfit,”Operation Harmony”, to reposition it as a bottle security watchdog of the state.

The call was part of the resolutions of House of Assemby on a motion of General Public Importance onThe Need To Build A Formidable Security Architecture For Kwara State moved by Hon Babatunde Abdulkareem Paku, Malete/Ipaye/Oloru Constituency.

The House also urged the governor to direct the Secretary to the State Government to collaborate with the state Commissioner of Police to ascertain the status of Ilorin Close Circuit Television (CCTV) centre for repositioning for optimum performance.

According to Rt Hon Salihu, the House also urged the state governor to direct relevant agency to carry out a proper census of security outfits in the state to guard against security breach.

The House further urged the State government to embark on consistent enlightenment of the citizenry on radio on security tips and to report suspicious individuals and activities to appropriate agencies.

It further urged the government to liaise with the Nigeria Police to intensify community policing to involve more stakeholders such as Landlords in order to broaden the base of participation and intelligence gathering.
