Quality Education, The Way Forward And The Fresh Ideas In CRUTECH: By Jake Clifford
“If a man empties his purse into his head, no man can take it away from him. An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.”
The quotation above by one of America’s founding fathers – Benjamin Franklin – underscores the place and value of education in our lives. Education is important because it empowers us in every aspect of human endeavour. But quite unfortunately, we have not given education the attention and priority it deserves in our society.
The first temptation is the assumption that quality education is the sole responsibility of government. No, it is not. While we agree that government has a task of making education work, we also have a duty by contributing our quota to support government efforts.
See photos for yourselves:
This narrative illustrates the fact that from the days of old, education has always been a partnership between government and groups or individuals at all levels.
It takes a good leader to detect another good leader. For Prof Ben Ayade to had chosen Professor Ogar David Abua in the midst of every other contender to act at that capacity as the Acting Vice Chancellor of Cross River State University. He knows the VC’s capacity and what he can do. Kudos to Governor Ben Ayade! Ayade Sabi Body!
Yesterday, I took a stroll down to CRUTECH, even with the stay-at-home order over fear of Coronavirus. I had no choice than to risked myself, havent heard so much about the current acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Ogar David Abua. Did you know what my eyes saw? Oh this is good! My eyes got caught up with new facilities and strange things I had never thought CRUTECH would have them. Thank you Professor Ogar David Abua for thinking outside the box. Guys wuna need go see am too! The thing make sense die!
From the above illustration, and as a lover of quality educational system and good governance. I’m tempted to disclosed to you reading this piece that I’m in love with the current Acting VC, even though I have not met him in person. I admire his leadership skills and qualities. While, I applauded the current Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Ogar David Abua for this great, deep vision and for thinking outside the box. My greatest commendation goes to the Governor of Cross River State, Prof Ben Ayade for nominating Professor Ogar David Abua.
Similarly, in a swift and responsible move to close the gap between infrastructure, quality education and school in-take, there has been massive construction and restructuring currently ongoing across the campuses, all facilitated by the current acting VC. In a phone conversation with one of the students in Ogoja campus, he told me the construction of the institution fence is at the verge of completion. The reason I took my time to called was to confirmed if same projects are spread across the four campuses.
Such interventions dot the entire four campuses in the state and are complemented by other necessities like pure water company which I had never thought such innovation could come to play, customised and programmed examination script and electricity, as well as tight security guards to curtail students cult-related activities in the campus.
Despite these achievements, however, I believed he is yet to reach his desirable destination, haven heard so much about him. The truth is that CRUTECH that I used to know have left where it used to be. The giant step will move faster if we as an individuals and the state government throw our full support to the current administration as partners in progress.
As far as education is concerned, I would said the current acting VC administration is a success story. Now have a rethink about it. Don’t you think this man would do more better than what he is doing should the state Governor, Prof Ben Ayade find him worthy enough and confirm him as the institution’s VC?
So, we give credit to where it is due.
