The Greater Calabar Capital City Development Authority and Akpabuyo Local Government Council on Monday announced a partnership towards the decongestion of Calabar, saying the initiatives were designed to ensure urban development gets to rural communities.
Addressing journalists in Akpabuyo, Chairman of Greater Calabar Development Authority, Bassey Effiom
listed the seven local government areas to be captured; Akamkpa, Akpabuyo, Bakassi, Odukpani, Biase, Calabar South and Calabar Municipal Local Government Areas respectively.
He explained that the state Governor, Ben Ayade conceived the vision in other to expand development to hard-to-reach areas across the seven Local Government Areas in the Southern Senatorial District.
Also Speaking, the Director General (DG), Kingsley Ikpeme applauded the Governor, Ben Ayade on his deep vision to decongesting the state capital, adding that, the idea of the Governor would not only create jobs, but it will also add beautification to the state.
Responding, the Akpabuyo council Chairman, Hon Emmanuel Bassey.who expressed overwhelming excitement, said the Governor is someone who foresees the future ahead of them, noting that, the idea to decongesting Calabar by the Governor Ben Ayade-led administration was a good and deep vision.
He maintained that, on his part, he would do all his best to ensure that the vision comes to actualisation.
“I’m so excited to hear this and I would say this vision is timely, and for us as a local government, we would do everything possible to ensure that this vision is achieved”.
