Obong Of Calabar Pledges Support To Eye Doctors

Nigerian Optometrist Association (NOA) on Tuesday paid a courtesy Call to the Obong of Calabar, His Eminence, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V to intimate him about the up coming International Conference of NOA to be held in Calabar International Convention Centre (CICC) from 17th-20th July,  2019.

His Eminence, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V while receiving the Local Organising Committee Chairman and State Executive of the association lauded the eye doctors for their choice of Calabar for the upcoming National and International Conference alongside eyecare outreach which many indigenes will benefit from it.

He eulogise them for not just coming to host a conference but also using the opportunity to impact the communities. His Eminence noted that the members of the council will be part of the program so they can also benefit from free vision examination.

Earlier Speaking, the local organising committee chairperson of the Conference, Dr Bernadine Ekpenyong said the NOA annual conference usually brings thousand of their members together to promote research in optometry, exhibit noteworthy clinical findings and novel technology in Eyecare as well as celebrate the achievements of the association in the previous years.

According to her, the women optometrists in Nigeria will conduct free vision examination and treatment to the populace on Wednesday 17th July, 2019 at Adiabo Community as part of of their community outreach.

The Royal Court pour encomium on the association for their giant stride and positive presence in Calabar though worried about the lack of indigenes in the field compare to their contemporaries across the State.

His Eminence, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V was invited to the opening ceremony of the International Conference as the Royal father of the day.
