The Ohorodo and the council of Chiefs of Okum kingdom in Obubra Local Government Area have today harmoniously nominated His Excellency, Senator (Prof) . Ben Ayade, the governor of Cross River State for coronation as the king of “Peace and Development”.
This event according to the member representing Obubra/Etung in the Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Mike Etaba says it will take place on the 6th of September, 2019 in line with this year’s New yam festival celebration in Apiapum village in obubra Local Government Area of Cross River State.
Continuing, Mike Etaba disclosed that the essence and philosophy behind the coronation is as a result of the governor’s tremendous efforts toward ensuring that total peace is restored in the land of Obubra generally.
Etaba reasoned that taking into cognizance the peace restoration into the Obubra land by His Excellency Governor Ben Ayade, there is no iota of doubt that Sir Ayade fits the crown.
Rt. Hon. Mike Etaba further explained that this is the major reason why the Governor, Sir Ben Ayade deserves a Nobel Peace Prize award, taking into consideration the enormous developmental strides, particularly in peace building, through the peace-approach theory.
In a statement signed by the council of Chiefs of Okum kingdom, it reads ; “thanks to Governor Ben Ayade, whose unyielding commitment and intervention to seeing peace restored among the major waring communities in Obubra, which include ; Ababene and Iyamitet, Obubra and Ebonyi, Nko, Onyadama and Nyima, Ochon and Alesi, Imabana Communities, Alesi and Ogabor, Odungit and Ochon communities. We therefore, find it necessary that he (the Governor) deserves a befitting recognition which we will officially be coronating him in Obubra by the Council of Chiefs of Okum kingdom”.
The Ohorodo of Okum hinted that Ayade has clearly proven and demonstrated he is one of a kind, in words, actions, and indeed that he is completely different from what we have seen from others in Cross River by singlehandedly intervening in the war between some major communities in Obubra which before now has engaged us sleepless night.
