Outside the domain of politics where he has settled into the role of one of the lawmakers with traceable track records and meaningful achievements over the years in office, Rt. Hon. Okpechi Friday Gabriel is also one of the outspoken lawmakers in the Cross River State House of Assembly, he is actually a devoted father, son and thoroughbred family man. There is nothing he loves more than his family so imagine his pain when his beloved Father abruptly passed on to glory.
The depth of Okpechi’s pain was obvious from the heartfelt notice he penned, expressing his grief and lauding his late Dad, Mr. Eyache Okpechi Gabriel whom he regarded as his brother, Playmate, and best friend.
Over the past few days, Obubra has been adjudged as one of the most visited LGA’s
as the Who’s Who in Cross River State politics come in their droves to comfort and support him in his hour of grief. Even his rivals across the political divide weren’t left out. There hardly remains any name of consequence that hasn’t sent out a message of sympathy.
Among those present include; The State Governor, Ben Ayade represented by the lawmaker representing Etung State Constituency, Barr Chris Njah, Former Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke represented by former Member of House Representatives, Rt. Hon. Bassey Eko Ewa, Member Representing Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mike Etaba, Speaker of Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Eteng Jones Williams, Obubra Local Government Chairman, Hon. Bassey Eric Tom.
