Police Kill Two Youths At A Tea Spot In Kano

Two youths were shot dead in Kano by the operatives of the Anti-Daba unit of Kano State Police Command at the weekend. It was gathered that police shot one that died instantly, while the other was stabbed before he died in the hospital.

Unfortunately, they met their unexpected death when the police operatives surrounded a popular tea spot in Sharada quarters looking for some suspected criminals.

According to an eyewitness, these youths and some others attempted to resist these police men with their civilian detectives from raiding in their environ.

According to another eyewitness who was there when it started, “the incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. when policemen raided the junction where the youths normally seat to take tea and gist. Suddenly, we started hearing gunshots for no reason. We didn’t even know what they wanted. Suddenly, Abubakar dropped dead and Ibrahim was stabbed in the chest by one of the policemen. Ibrahim later died at the hospital.”

Another eyewitness confirmed that the whole scene started when the youths decided not to give the operatives any money and resulted into brutalizing the innocent youths till they died.

When the spokesperson for the command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna was contacted, he said, “it is true that some officers and civilian operatives attached to Anti-Daba unit of the command went on arrest of some suspected hoodlums but the operation later turned violent. Two persons were reported killed.

“The officers were arrested on the orders of the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Habu Sani and the CP has ordered an investigation to unravel the fact of the matter, which has since commenced.”
