Public Account Committee (PAC), Cross River House of Assembly Embark On Oversight Function/Fact Finding Mission Across The 18 LGAs In The State
Legislative oversight is an institutionalised mechanism aimed at checkmating financial recklessness in Public funds.



As Part of it’s Oversight Function, the Cross River State House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts on Thursday embarked on Inspection of some projects in Abi and Yakurr Local Government Councils respectively.
Weetalknaija gathered that the PAC oversight visit is to check financial recklessness and instill financial discipline in the expenditure of state public funds.
The committee warned that any council found culpable of financial misappropriation will be exposed to face the wrath of the law.
The Committee led by its Chairman and Member Representing Obubra 1 State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Friday Okpechi Gabriel, while on inspection of some projected in Yakurr Local Government Council, paid a surprised visit to the Paramount Ruler of Yakurr, Obol Lopon of Ugep, Obol Ofem Ubana.
The lawmaker called on the Monarch not to relent on his efforts, but to continue with his good Leadership style.
Other Lawmakers include, Hon. Edward Ajang, Vice Chairman, Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and member representing Bekwarra State Constituency and Hon. Davies Etta, Member representing Abi State Constituency among others.
Local Government Councils visited so far include, Calabar South, Calabar Municipal, Akpabuyo, Bakassi, Biase, Odukpani, Akamkpa, Abi, Yakurr, Obubra, Ikom, Etung.
