Re: Mary Ekepere, Senator Owan-Enoh did not claim any programme

Massive Recruitment at the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC)

The attention of Senator John Owan-Enoh has been drawn to a very wicked and malicious post by Mary ekpere to the effect of him laying claim to the cancer walk scheduled to hold in Abuja tomorrow.

It is imperative that a few things are made clear at this point

Early this morning, at around, I saw on senator Owan-Enoh Wahtaspp status, his photograph promoting the cancer walk. I immediately did a post on the said cancer scheduled to hold in Abuja on October 26.

In my post, I erroneously stated that Senator John Owan-Enoh initiated the walk to create awareness for the early screening of cancer and regular check-ups.

In a swift response, this same morning, immediately after reading the post, Senator Owan-Enoh replied thus: Thanks for promomting this George. For the records though i didn’t initiate this; i’m instead promoting and supporting it. You will recall i initiated the Diabetes Walk as part of the John Owan Enoh Diabetes Foundation.

That swift reaction from the Senator was a clear indication of how distinguished the Senator is, been careful like the academic that he is, not to claim ownership of what he did not initiate.

He clearly indicated that he was involved in the cancer walk only from the position of supporting and promoting it buying t-shirts and face caps for those willing to be part of thr walk.

Although as he stated, he is involved with the Senator John Owan-Enoh Diabetes Foundation, this would not be the first time that the Senator Owan-Enoh will be supporting a cancer initiative.

It would be recalled that in October 2018, Senator Owan-Enoh joined hundreds of other prominent people at Transcorp Hotels in Calabar to raise awareness on the need to screen for cancer regularly.

Senator Owan-Enoh who said at the programme that he was impressed with the initiative of using arts to advocate for screening, treatment and management of breast cancer noted that: “This is the first time I am meeting Dr. Nchewi, the president and founder of Pink Africa. I have listened to her speak, I can see her passion, she has done so much to sensitize the people, and having seen all the corporate partners, I will get Jorany hotel for cooperate partnership.”
