Reps Member Commends Ayade, Wife For Distributing Food Items To Over 44,000 Cross Riverians

The lawmaker representing Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Mike Etaba has expressed his appreciation to the generosity of the state Governor, Sir Ben Ayade and his dear wife, Dr Linda Ayade for supporting the welfare committee and food bank to purchase food stuff that will be distributed to over 44,000 vulnerable house holds in the state.

A statement issued by the lawmaker in Abuja on Saturday, said with deep appreciation, he thanked the Governor and his dear wife, the kind gesture and individuals who have consistently supported ongoing efforts of the state Governor to mitigate COVID-19 pandemic, which is ravaging the global economy.

“I’m highly impressed by the rapid response from the Cross River State Government,” he added

Recalled that, the Wife of the Governor, Dr Linda Ayade has on Saturday reiterated her commitment and support to the over 44,000 vulnerable households in the state, following the stay-at-home order over fear of Coronavirus.

Speaking, Her Excellency, Dr Linda Ayade call on market women to frequently wash their hands with clean water and soap while observing social distancing. She assured them that nose masks will be provided free of charge for all the market women as part of preventive measures against the deadly virus. She said Cross River State is COVID-19 free and should stay so.

Meanwhile the Commissioner for Humanitarian and Welfare, Mrs Blessing Egbara who accompanied the Governor wife said her committee will ensure Cross Riverians who needs help are captured on the social welfare amenities provided by the state government.

Chairman Cross River State Food Bank, Rev Dr Mercy Akpama said several strategies have been laid on ground to ensure household benefits from the distribution of food stuffs. According to her religious leaders, stakeholders, traditional rulers, village heads, volunteers and Government appointees from every LGA will be involved to ensure food are deliver to every community.
