REVEALED! Sen Ndume says 840 Nigerian soldiers killed by Boko Haram in Borno State alone

1 min

Former leader of the Nigerian Senate and current chairman of senate committee on Army, Ali Ndume, on Tuesday revealed that 840 Nigerian soldiers were killed by the Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State alone from 2013 till date.

He said the slain soldiers were buried in the military cemetery located in Maiduguri, the capital of the state.

According to the senator, other soldiers, whose number he did not mention, were equally killed by the insurgents and buried in other military cemeteries located in other parts of the North-East geopolitical zone.

The former senate leader stated this when he briefed newsmen in Abuja on the findings by his colleagues, who recently returned from Maiduguri.

Ndume, meanwhile, denied claims of mass burial of soldiers killed by the terrorists.

He added that the committee was also investigating allegations that some non-governmental agencies operating in the North-East, were giving vital information to the Boko Haram leaders.

Recall that a report by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) had in August this year, claimed that the Nigerian Army had been burying hundreds of soldiers in secret unmarked graves, in a bid to cover up the casualty figures in the ongoing war against insurgency within the North-East.
