Shocking As Governor Ben Ayade’s Aide Beats Former Cross River Lawmaker Mercilessly

The Special Assistant to Governor Ben Ayade on Forest Security, Thomas Obi Tawo a.k.a General Iron has beat to a pulp, former Cross River State lawmaker, Mark Obi Esq.

THE PARADISE gathered that Hon. Obi was on Wednesday night beaten by thugs led by General Iron and he has been rushed to the hospital – and may not survive as he is in a coma.

According to CrossRiverWatch, family sources say Obi had travelled to his hometown in Oku in Boki Local Government Area of the State where he was attacked by Tawo and his boys.

“General Iron led the boys himself to beat him and we don’t know if he is alive right now.

“He was rushed to a Hospital in Ikom and he has been unresponsive and we don’t know whether he is alive”, CrossRiverWatch quoted a family source saying.

When contacted on the phone on Thursday, Thomas Tawo told THE PARADISE that it was Mark Obi that instigated the fight, adding that he is owing him and his boys for 20 years and doesn’t want to settle them.

“Hon. Mark Obi is our political boss that we’ve worked for for 20 years and has refused to settle us. The only thing he has to do is to go and instigate the Government against us and tried to kill us because we have worked for him and he doesn’t want to settle us”, Tawo told THE PARADISE.

Speaking further, Tawo said: “He came last time and the boys went and met him and pleaded with him that ‘we’ve served you for 20 years, we need our settlement – please settle us’ – he kept silent and could not speak with us and left.

“Yesterday (Wednesday) at midnight, he went and brought in reinforcement with guns and ammunition to come to my community – he wants to come and fight against those who worked for him. So, the boys said this cannot happen and they resisted and that was what happened”

General Iron has been at loggerheads with top public officials after he allegedly seized a palm estate for himself, beating up several others while setting some ablaze.

THE PARADISE reported in May 2020 how Tawo supervised the assault on some citizens of Boki, claiming that they were witches and wizards – as he set some ablaze, leading to the death of three. The act led to women protesting in Calabar, the state capital.

Hon. Mark Obi had earlier served as the Special Adviser on Administration and Special Adviser on Sustainable Development Goals to Governor Ayade before resigning earlier this year, after refusing to defect with the latter to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
