SHOCKING!! President Buhari Snubs Yemi Osinbajo Again

In the midst of rising COVID-19 infections, the Federal Government has again snubbed a recommendation from the Economic Sustainability Committee headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and agreed to re-open orientation camps nationwide next Tuesday.

In June 2020, the Osinbajo-led committee proposed that, although the program of the National Youth Service Corps could continue, the three-week orientation exercise should be suspended for two years.

The recommendation read in part, ‘In the education sector, the immediate emphasis is on addressing the disturbances caused by the pandemic and ensuring social distancing at all levels of education.

In a similar sense, consideration will be given to suspending the orientation camp exercises of the National Youth Service Corps for at least 24 months while permitting deployment to primary assignment locations. It will make sure that the national service placement pipeline does not have a backlog.

It was learned that camps were reopened in November when the spread of COVID-19 fell late last year, but a surge was reported by the nation again.

The rise in events, including the re-opening of NYSC camps and the #EndSARS demonstrations, led to the increase in COVID-19 cases, which has now surpassed 100,000, a top health official said.

“The entire world knows that increased human interactions lead to an increase in infections with COVID-19,” he said. Schools have been re-opened and closed at various times, including in the UK and the USA, but the main thing is to minimize human contact as much as possible.

The reality is that it is possible to stop re-opening the NYSC camps. Members of the Corps should have had virtual orientation lectures given and posted to their primary assignment locations. That was what was proposed by the Vice-Committee. President’s There is no way these camps are not going to report infections.

Aren’t human experiences going to exist? Wouldn’t physical activities, sports or marching parades take place? Would members of the corps wear masks inside the hostels? ”

However, a presidential aide said he had no idea as to why the vice president’s suggestion was ignored.

We are all shocked that at a time when infections are growing, the NYSC is moving ahead with re-opening orientation camps. It is absolutely avoidable because the orientation can be completed online and members of the corps can eventually obtain their messages,’ the aide said.
