Cross River State Governor, Senator Ben Ayade during the electioneering campaigns for his second term vowed to tackle challenges Cross Riverians are experiencing with a view of building a greater Cross River State through an ‘aggressive approach’ towards establishing industries During his swearing in speech, Governor Ben Ayade said henceforth, he will serve as the “Project Manager” while his deputy will be the acting governor, to an extent, the governor is working according to his speech. Ayade had after winning the election reaffirmed his position by confidently telling Cross Riverians to expect solutions to many of the challenges they face in areas of unemployment, development, health, industrialization, Agriculture, etc.
According to him: “We are actually very excited. We are excited because we’ve seen all the challenges ahead of us and we know that given all the plans and strategies we are putting in place for execution, we will certainly be bringing about solutions that will solve various challenges in Cross River State very quickly.” Political observers and social media critics have advocated that only intelligent, smart, resourceful, sound minded, analytical and a goal getter should be given opportunity to lead emerging ‘industrialization’ hub such as Cross River state.
Without doubt, Ben Ayade possesses requisite skills and qualities to lead Nigeria’s largest tourist state which will be joining the likes of popular cities like London, Dubaj, Los Angeles, and Paris by 2030 as center for ‘Industrialization’ according to Central Bank projection. But you know what? He need to be encourage! For the records, Cross River state population is estimated at 3.738 million. Therefore, the urbanisation and emergence of new industries in Cross River State by Governor Ben Ayade on daily basis comes with different challenges that the government will continue to address to improve standard of living and improve citizens’ welfare.
To this end, Cross River governor would have to explore creative ways to address unemployment, waste management, growing security challenge and attract investors for the purpose of wealth creation as well as job creation. Besides, Ben Ayade has shown high level of commitment towards improving jobs creation, by building industries spread across the state.
It’s heartwarming to note that Governor Ben Ayade is driving #ForAGreaterCrossRiver project where thousands of Cross Riverians would be making billions of naira from Agricultural value chain. Apart from that, the governor has vowed to rejig the state security architecture to curb criminal activities across the State. Recently, the governor emphasised that making Cross River State a 21st century economy requires improved power supply to drive businesses and households.
He therefore pledged to modernise essential services in the state and strive for maximum efficiency in the public sector institutions. According to him, we are going to do this so that we can become increasingly competitive and innovative.
It is important to unleash the potential of the state so as to attract foreign direct investments (FDIs) to the state. What else can one then require of a state chief executive, even at the budding days of his government? Without mincing, Governor Ben Ayade is walking talk in Cross River State to fulfill his campaign promises, deliver dividends of democracy and improve general wellbeing of the citizenry.
