Soon: Normalcy Returns To Cross River PDP Crisis As Tambuwal, Okowa, Others Visit Ayade


The People’s Democratic Party Governors Forum (PDP-GF) met in Calabar, Cross River, on Wednesday to discuss issues relating to the party’s unity in the South-South.

During their visit to Prof. Ben Ayade, Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal led his Delta and Enugu State counterparts, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa and Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

Gov. Tambuwal, who is also the Chairman of the PDP-GF, told journalists after the two-hour meeting inside Government House in Calabar that the meeting “was a fruitful, calm, and constructive engagement with the stakeholders of Cross River.”

“We’ve come to Cross River on the PDP-mandate, GF’s which was approved by the National Working Committee (NWC), to engage with our dear brother and colleague, Prof. Ben Ayade, the Governors of Cross River State, and the members of our party here in Cross River on the contentious issues of the state’s congresses.

“We’ve spoken to them, and we have a feeling that, by the grace of God, we’ll be able to fix these problems eventually, and the group will come back together.

“There were a lot of concerns about how the Congresses went about,” the governor said. “Everyone is interested in restoring normalcy to ensure that the family is brought back together and works together for the common good of Cross River state.”

He also stated that his group would present the meeting’s report to the Governors’ Forum and the NWC for review, deliberation, and action.

Prof. Ayade then took the three visiting governors to the state Industrial Park, which includes a frozen chicken line (aka Calachika), a Cross River State Instant Noodles complex (branded KISIMIE Instant Noodles), and a feed mill.

They were all ecstatic with their host’s results, which, despite the economic downturn, has been outstanding, particularly in terms of job creation and diversification of the state’s economy.
