Cross River North: Stephen Odey Allegedly Meet CJN’s Children, Ask Them To Beg Father To Review Supreme Court Judgment

A political Group, Street Mobilisation has alleged that Barr. (Dr) Stephen Odey has approached the Children of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, to review the Supreme Court verdict on the Cross River Northern Senatorial by-election.

Recall that on Thursday, February 25, 2021, the Apex Court upheld Rt. Hon. Jarigbe Agom’s preliminary objection on defective service and affirmed him the authentic candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Senator-elect for Cross River North Senatorial by-election that held on December 5, 2020.

The Group in a statement signed by its Director-General, Joseph Arikpa and made available to PARADISE NEWS on Sunday said Odey has moved to lobby the CJN through his Sons for a review of the judgement in his favour.

“After the verdict of the Supreme Court on the Cross River North Senatorial By-Election, which declared Rt. Hon. Jarigbe Agom as rightful Candidate of the PDP and Senator-Elect, Stephen Odey has moved to lobby the Chief Justice of Nigeria through his Sons for a Review of the Judgment in his favour.

“We have been briefed that Stephen Odey has told his supporters that Justice Kekere Ekun is tipped to preside over the Review Panel and upturn the decision of the Supreme Court against the earlier Ruling. This has never happened in the history of the Supreme Court and the general public is watching with keen interest.

“It is pertinent to remember what the Supreme Court said on the Imo judgment when Ihedioha’s Legal team applied for a review. A review is only when there is a typographical mistake or some such mistake that renders the Judgment incapable of understanding. Remember the Supreme Court fined the lawyer 5million Naira for misleading his client!

“The Public is aware that the appeal was struck out due to a defective notice of appeal which renders the appeal incompetent. Several cases have been decided in this direction, including the case of Ihedioha Vs Okorocha. Justice Musa Dattijo was on that panel.

“We pray for the Justices of the Supreme Court, as they remain the last hope of this country”, the statement read.

When PARADISE NEWS contacted Barr. Stephen Odey on phone on Sunday, he said the Supreme Court has delivered judgement and he doesn’t want to say anything more than that.

“I don’t want to talk on anything, sorry. I don’t want to join issues with anybody. I am a lawyer, Supreme Court has delivered judgement, I don’t want to say anything more than that.
