Hundreds of supporters of Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Igboho have gathered outside the Court of Appeals in Cotonou to protest the delay in his trial.
Many supporters from Nigeria and the Benin Republic flocked to the court as early as 7 a.m. to show their support for the Yoruba nation activist.
Despite the fact that Igboho has been held in one of the prosecutors’ rooms since the early hours of Monday, the trial is yet to begin at 2.54 p.m.
While some of his followers are hopeful that he will be released, others are acting erratically.
Frustrated by the delay, several supporters of Igboho are directing their rage at anyone who takes photos or recordings films of events in the courtroom, including journalists.
Weetalknaija has learned that Sunday Igboho’s trial could be postponed till Thursday, according to a source close to his legal team.
The insider claimed that after meeting with the besieged Yoruba nation activist in the special chamber where he has been held since the morning, everything indicates that the trial will not be completed today, as many have predicted.
He did not, however, disclose any grounds for the second adjournment since the trial began last week.
