Four gunmen kidnapped Alhaji Musa Umar, the district head of President Muhammadu Buhari’s hometown, the News Agency of Nigeria confirms.
The kidnappers who were reported to have shot sporadically in the air to scare of bystanders, kidnapped the unfortunate village head from his Daura residence around 7pm on Wednesday evening.
Umar had just returned from the mosque where he took part in the evening prayer when the incident happened.
He was sitting in front of his house with some people when the gunmen abducted him into a waiting Peugeot 406 saloon car they came in.
After the abduction, the Daura council chairman Malam Abba Mato and hundreds of sympathizers arrived Umar’s residence, to discuss the bewildering incident and rescue.
