Tensions In Abuja As Bandits Demand N100,000 From Each Household, Gives Notice Of Attack
Residents of Mpape Phase 2, a suburb near Abuja’s affluent Maitama District, have been tense since receiving a notice from suspected bandits.
The letter, which was sent to warn locals of an upcoming attack, stated that each person must carry at least N100,000 in cash or be prepared to be killed.
Although no precise date for the intended attack has been established, the entire area has been engulfed in panic.
The Nigerian army and other security services, according to the document labeled “Business Operations,” would not stop them from carrying out the attack.
“Hello friends, this is to inform you that we will be arriving in this region for an operation very soon.” By this letter, you are required to have at least N100,000 on hand to assist us, or you will face serious repercussions. Nobody can stop us if you want to call the cops or the army. The Arch, yours.”
In response to the development, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mariam Yusuf, encouraged residents not to worry.
“The police are on top of the situation,” she said, urging them to report any unusual movement to security services.
