Tensions In Benue State As Ten Missing Soldiers Found Dead

In Benue State’s Konshisha Local Government Area, ten Nigerian Army troops and one military police officer were discovered dead.

The army authorities deployed troops to hunt down the perpetrators of the heinous act, causing tension in the community.

Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Yerima, a spokesman for the Nigerian Army, confirmed the killings of troops by unidentified individuals in a statement made available to journalists.

The bodies of the slain troops were immediately evacuated, according to Yerima, who added that attempts are still underway to track down those responsible for the crime and bring them to justice.

”Nigerian Army troops operating in Benue State were attacked while on a regular operational mission,” he said.

”The troops, consisting of one officer and ten soldiers, were reported missing at first, prompting the deployment of a joint search and rescue team made up of NA troops and Operation Whirl Stroke personnel.

”Unfortunately, the search and rescue team discovered all of the missing troops dead in Benue State’s Konshisha LGA.

Although the bodies of the slain soldiers were immediately evacuated, attempts are still underway to find the perpetrators of this heinous crime and bring them to justice.”

The Nigerian Army, on the other hand, has appealed to the public to provide valuable information that would contribute to the arrest of those responsible for the heinous crime.

Yerima stated that the Army is committed to ensuring that the unprovoked assault does not disturb the general peace that the locals enjoy.

According to him, the COAS has instructed commanders on the ground to make sustained efforts to locate and deal decisively with the bad elements threatening the area’s stability.

According to the Daily Trust, Benue, which has been a hotbed of conflict in the past, has recently experienced relative peace.
