Governor Ben Ayade’s efforts, dedication, and encouragement were instrumental in making these accomplishments possible.

Health is wealth. You will agree with me that our most valuable asset is our wellbeing. Without a question, the sweetest fruit of life’s tree is wellbeing.

Money, as well as social prestige, are unquestionably significant. Good health, on the other hand, is a continuous source of joy.

Despite widespread criticism from its residents, was widely praised for his quick response to the deadly China killer virus Coronavirus, which prevented the disease from spreading across the state.

Without a doubt, the Cross River State Ministry of Health has accomplished a great deal in the last few years under Governor Ben Ayade’s leadership.

 

Among the accomplishments are:

(1) The School of Nursing in Calabar, the School of Nursing in Ogoja, and the School of Midwifery in Obudu have all earned full accreditation for the past five years, with an improvement in benchmark across the board.

(2). Calabar School of Nursing, which has increased its intake from 40 to 100 students.

(3) Ogoja School of Nursing (50-75), and Obudu School of Midwifery (50-75).

(4th). Calabar is now the home of the Nigerian Nursing and Midwifery Council’s Zonal Office.

(5) Renovation and equipping of the Calabar General Hospital

(6) Yakurr LGA General Hospital is being renovated.

(7) Obubra LGA General Hospital is being renovated.

(8). Providing free eye surgery to over 1000 Akamkpa LGA residents.

(9). In the fight against malnutrition, the Cross River State Ministry of Health rescued more than 30 malnourished families in Nko, Yakurr LGA.

Scheme of Health Insurance has over 1 million Cross Riverians enrolled in each LGA.

All of these accomplishments were made possible by the tireless efforts of Dr Betta Edu, the Cross River State Commissioner for Health.

Dr Betta Edu, after just two months as Commissioner, revamped and refurbished the entire Ministry of Health Headquarters, which had not been touched in 15 years.
