Ben Ayade And The Greater Calabar Vision, Agency Gets Commendation

“We all saw it as a simple exercise to shake off that lethargic feeling that often visits after a heavy lunch or a short night rest. Or a physical exercise to keep us awake. It all turned out to be that and more – the power of dreams, sheer imagination, some deep thinking and a test of the fecundity of the human mind”.

“Just close your eyes and imagine the Calabar of your dream, the Calabar you would like to see, where development would be taken to hard-to-reach areas”.

Others saw Calabar with smooth and wide roads, free of pestering street hawkers and traffic robbers. But, Governor Ben Ayade sees a Greater Calabar City where nobody would go to bed without food, where no child misses the education train for lack of money, where the old are catered for, where all have access to good healthcare and where religious harmony thrives.

That has been the team spirit propelling the administration of Governor Ben Ayade and his deputy, Ivara Esu.

The Greater Calabar City Development Agency on Wednesday received commendation from the State ministry of New Cities Development during a visit to the commissioner in Calabar, the state capital.

The visitation according to the team headed by the Chairman,Mr Bassey Effiom became necessary to seek for a collaboration with the New Cities Development Ministry.

Highlighting the agency’s roles, Effiom informed journalists in Calabar that the creation of the agency was geared towards expanding development of the state metropolis to other Local Government Areas in the state.

He said:-

“Greater Calabar City Development Agency was created by Sir Ben Ayade’s led-administration to further expand the horizons of development to other rural LGAs”.
Also speaking, the Director General of the agency, Kingsley Ikpeme said, most cities in the world have undergone urban decay because of lack of breakdown in basic services like portable water supply, electricity, efficient city transport services, affordable housing and waste disposal systems which is largely as a result of authorities not coming to terms with the tempo of rising urban needs.

Responding, Cross River State Commissioner for New Cities Development, Mr Mike Usibe applauded the Governor for the creation of the agency and promised to partner with the agency.
