The Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund Calabar Commemorates the World Day For Safety and Health At Work
The Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund, (NSITF), Calabar branch, have joined the international labour organization and global Community to commemorate the world global day.
This year theme, *Let’s* *Act* *Together* *To* *Build* *A* *Positive* *Health* *And* *Safety* *Culture, is in line with the social security agency’s mandate.
The safety week, which commenced on Monday 25th April with health checks, symposium and other activities ended today, with a colorful outing by all staff of the agency embarking on a tour round different axis of Calabar municipality.
The NSITF staff were on a tour around the Marian road, IBB way, Effioete junction, Maryslessor avenue and Etta-agbo distributing flyers and sensitizing the public to embrace and utilize the health and safety policy that the federal government have created for workers through the Nigerian Social Insurance Trust fund.
To this end, the fund advised all workers entrepreneurs and establishment owners irrespective of their staff strength to enroll with the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund for the safety of their health and work environment.
On her part the branch manager of the fund in Calabar, Mrs. Ugot Idara, said the NSITF joins the global Community yearly to commemorate the world day for safety at work.
She added that the fund has a department that is Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) that is saddled with the responsibility to educate the workers on health and safety at the work place.
According to her the work place would not be a good place without good health and safety measures take in place.
