Things Fall Apart As APC Crisis Deepens: Aggrieved Members In Enugu, Imo, Ogun, Rivers, Kwara, Others Dragged Buni To Court

Ahead of tomorrow’s ward Congress of the All Progressives Congress, APC, aggrieved members of the party in Enugu State have dragged the party to court.

The plaintiffs in the suit are Akpagu Jude, Uzochi George, Agu Chinenye Vivian and Kenneth Ozoemenam.

Joined as defendants in the suit are the APC, its acting national chairman, Mai Mala Buni, former Senate President, Ken Nnamani and the chairman of the party in Enugu State, Dr. Ben Nwoye.

DAILY POST confirmed from the plaintiffs that the suit was served in Nwoye at the party’s Secretariat in Enugu shortly after the stakeholders’meeting held earlier in the day.

They are asking the court to void anything that has to do with the Congress, alleging among other things that after paying for delegate forms, none was issued to them.

When contacted, Nwoye confirmed receiving a motion on notice with regards to the suit filed before the Enugu State High Court.

He, however, expressed anger that party members could take such step without exhausting the internal mechanisms.

BREAKING!!! Confusion As Federal High Court Stops APC From Conducting Congress Tomorrow

A High of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has warned the All Progressives Congress (APC) not to go ahead with Saturday’s congresses in Imo State pending hearing of a suit brought before the Court by the Applicant, Okey Anyikwa.

Anyikwa is APC chairman of Ideato South Local Government Area.

The applicant had approached the Court for an injunction restraining the APC from going ahead with the Saturday’s congresses because of the judgement of the Appeal Court that upheld the tenure of the State Exco elected in 2018.

Justice Valentine Oriji, threatened to invalidate the outcome of congresses if the party disregards the position of the Court.

Oriji, had after Friday’s proceeding, ordered that all action regarding the APC congresses in the state should be stayed, pending the hearing of the Application slated for August 10.

Supreme Court Ruling: APC Now Invalid, Carries Burden of “Let Buyer Beware” -PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alerts Nigerians and the international community that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has become technically invalidated and now lacks the statutory structure to operate as a political party in our country.

This is given the pronouncement of the Supreme Court which clearly pointed to the nullity of APC’s subsistence and activities as a political party, for having a sitting governor, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state, as its Chairman, in total violation of section 183 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) as well as the provisions of Article 17(4) of the APC constitution.

A further interpretation of the pronouncement of the Supreme Court showed that all activities of the APC under Mai Mala Buni, including nomination of candidates for elections, agreements, official decision reached, establishment of committees for statutory activities as well as its planned ward, local government and states congresses now hang loosely on the threat of invalidity.

The fate of the APC as a defunct party is already sealed and the party cannot come out of this self-inflicted quagmire even if it engages in the drama of appointing a new National Chairman in place of Mai Mala Buni.

This is because the APC has become statutorily vacuous, without a valid National Working Committee, without a valid National Executive Committee (NEC) and without a valid Board of Trustees (BoT) to legally initiate or carry out any official function including convoking any platform for the administration of the party. It is end of the road for the APC.

In this regard, the PDP counsels all aspirants for the planned APC ward, local government and state congresses as well as the national convention to note that the APC is now in a state of “let the buyer beware”.

Such intending aspirants should be cautious of putting their precious time and resources in a damaged vehicle that has come to the end of an ill-fated journey.

In the same vein, those hoping to use the APC as a vehicle to realize their ambitions as President, governor, federal and state legislators as well as other elective offices should note the fate that has befallen the party.

Moreover, our party sympathizes with the APC governorship candidate in the coming Anambra governorship election over the misfortune of trying to journey in a political “one chance bus”.

The PDP calls on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), state electoral commissions, the Judiciary, the National Assembly as well as other institutions of democracy in Nigeria to note this development and take appropriate actions.

The fate that has befallen the APC is the direct consequence of its recourse to impunity, corruption, malpractices, recklessness, disregard to rule of law and total absence of internal democracy.

On our part, the PDP, as a bastion of democracy in Nigeria remains committed to our ideology and vision of our founding fathers and will continue to rally with Nigerians in the collective quest to rescue our dear nation from the misrule and stranglehold of the now crippled APC.

Crisis: Kwara APC Set For Parallel Congress On Saturday

Speaking with journalists in Ilorin during a press conference, the caretaker legal adviser of the party in the state, Barrister Ladi Mustapha, said the Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa-led faction is prepared for the Congresses slated for Saturday provided every other thing remains constant.

“I am delighted to inform you that we have secured nomination forms for all prospective contestants into positions at the Wards and Local Governments in compliance with the set guidelines for the exercise,” Barrister Mustapha told newsmen.

He added that the Bashir Bolarinwa Omolaja-led executive of the party had notified relevant agencies as required by the Electoral Act, 2006 (As Amended).

On their position regarding the Mai Mala Buni-led national leadership, Mustapha said the “Yobe State Governor cannot be absolved of the crisis rocking the party in Kwara State.

“They have tried all the tricks in the book to pervert the cause of justice on issues, but our God is a God of justice.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Supreme Court ruling on Jegede Vs. Rotimi Akeredolu Governorship election should be bold enough on the wall of justice that Hon. Bashir Ọmọlaja Bolarinwa’s chairmanship is as solid, in law, as the Rock of Gibraltar,” he said.

Crisis Hits Benue APC Ahead of Congresses, As Emmanuel Jime’s Supporters Accuse Sen Akume of Hijacking Process

vow to hold parallel Congresses …threatens to pull out of APC if National Secretariat fails to call Sen. Akume to order

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Benue state has been thrown into deep crisis as allies of the former governorship candidate of the party in the 2019 election, Mr. Emmanuel Jime have accused the Minister of Inter-Governmental Affairs and Special Duties, Senator George Akume of hijacking all the nomination forms for the party congresses to the exclusion of Jime’s loyalists.

They threatened to hold a parallel congress or possibly exit that party if the National Secretariat of the APC failed to wade into the matter and call the Minister to order.

Jime’s loyalists on the platform of Concerned Makurdi All Progressives Congress Stakeholders, Thursday in Makurdi accused the Minister of allegedly directing his crony, a retired Permanent Secretary(name withheld) and a leader of the party in Makurdi Local Government Area, LGA, to shutout all Emmanuel Jime’s loyalists in the sale and distribution of the nomination forms.

According to the spokesman of the group, Mr. Aka Imo “there is no gainsaying that the leadership of APC in Benue state has been hijacked and monopolized ahead of the coming Ward Congresses of the party, by Senator George Akume to the exclusion of Mr. Emmanuel Jime, the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Shippers Council and former governorship candidate of the party and his supporters.

“Senator Akume is using the retired Permanent Secretary from Makurdi South who claims to be the leader of APC in zone ‘B’ but cannot win election in his polling unit, to throw the party into crisis.

And we recall that during the senatorial election, Senator Akume lost Makurdi LGA to show you how unpopular he is in Makurdi and all the LGAs that make up Benue North West senatorial zone except Tarka LGA where he comes from.

“In fact it was because of Jime that APC polled much vote in Benue state in that 2019 election and today Senator Akume has started another fight that will ruin the chances of the APC in the state.

“All we are saying is that the National Secretariat of the APC should call the Minister to order or there will be a parallel congress of APC in Benue state on Saturday and that will mark the beginning of the end of the APC in the state.

“And we the Jime supporters may be compelled to leave the party for Akume because we cannot be seen to be giving our best to the party and be shutout of the Congresses of the same party by Senator Akume.

“How can the Minister use his crony to deny Jime and his supporters their legitimate right in the party? For instance there is a Ward in the North Bank area of Makurdi where a group of persons have led the party for 16 years and instead of ensuring that a new leadership is brought in the spirit of consensus, the retired Permanent Secretary who is playing the script of the Minister wants to retain the same leaders and also bring somebody from Gwer West to lead the party in the same North Bank against the wishes of members.

“He is bringing strangers to come and lead our party boasting that it is Senator Akume who instructed that Jime must not be allowed to produce the leadership of the party right from the ward level. So a list of Jime’s candidates in the coming congress was thrown out against the consensus spirit.”

Reacting, the Special Adviser to the Minister on Media and Public Affairs, Dr. Aondona Mkor said as far Sen. Akume and Mr. Jime were concerned, “there is no issue about the coming Ward Congresses to the extent of any iota of disagreement.

“The Congresses have not even started and the Minister has said emphatically that anything that has to do with Congresses and elections in the party would be free and fair. So anybody that is coming to accuse the Minister is just being mischievous and it is an act of blackmail,” he said.
