The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), today presented a fresh Certificate of Return to Rt.Hon Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe as the winner of the Cross River North Senatorial District by-election held on December 5, 2020.

INEC National Commissioner, Mrs May Agbamuche-Mbu while presenting the Certificate onbehalf of the Commission, Congratulated Jarigbe on his victory.

Former Governor of Cross River state and his wife, Sen. Liyel Imoke and Mrs. Obioma Imoke, The Carterpillar himself, Sen.Prof. Ntufam. Sandy Ojang Onor as well as, Hon. Emmanuel Ibeshi, separately received the latest Senator Elect, Rt.Hon Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, after INEC presented a Certificate of Return to the winner of the Cross River North Senate By-election.

The court of Appeal, had on 30 July, 2021, ordered INEC to withdraw Steven Odey’s Certificate of Return and issue a fresh Certificate to Jarigbe, thereby validating his victory at the by-election held on December 5, 2020.

INEC PRESENTS CERTIFICATE OF RETURN TO JARIGBE AGOM

INEC National Commissioner, May Umbo has presented a fresh Certificate of Return to the winner of the Cross River North Senatorial by-election, following the July 30, 2021 judgement of the Tribunal-Appeal sitting in Calabar which declared Jarigbe winner and ordered the withdrawal of Odey’s Certificate of Return.

The Senator-elect while speaking with Newsmen, returned all glory to God and the people of Cross River North for their support.

He stated that, the action today was in-line with the law and in compliance with the court judgement which was delivered in Calabar.

The lawmaker further stated that, the case before the Appeal court for review won’t change anything as the Appeal court is Functus Officio in the matter.
