Vice President Engages APC Youths; Calls for grassroot mobilization
Earlier this week, the National APC Youth Lobby Committee were received at the Presidential Villa by the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, SAN as part of their build up process towards youth inclusiveness in 2023 and to present the report of the party’s National Youth Conference in June, earlier this year.
The Vice President called on the youth arm of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to brace up and build a stronger membership base from the grassroots by mobilizing young Nigerians across the country to join the party beginning from the ward level. He tasked the committee to deal with the issue of inclusion at the grassroots level first.
The leader of the APC National Youth Lobby Committee, Barrister Ishmail Ahmed thanked the VP for being a consistent voice and supporter of youths regardless of political affiliations, but appealed for more youth integration in the affairs of the party across all levels. He appealed to the Vice President as a vociferous voice to continue championing Youth Inclusiveness in Governance and the party.
Also Speaking, Cross River State Commissioner for Finance, Mr Asuquo Ekpenyong disclosed that youths inclusion in the political arena is very critical in a sense that it is a great machinery to reinvent the governance structure of the country. Therefore, creating an enabling and equitable environment for youth in Nigeria is unquestionable. Today’s youth need real opportunities to participate in the political processes and contribute to practical solutions that advance development and economic growth.
The committee had in attendance the Director-General of National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Engr Inuwa Abdullahi, Senior Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, Sen. Babafemi Ojudu; Special Adviser to the President on Infrastructure, Mr Ahmad Zakari, and many youth leaders across the party including Mr. Hakeem Shagaya, Dr. Etin Osa, Ms. Fatima Kakuri, Mr. Kabir Aregbesola among others.
