3 min

By Kingsley Agim, Calabar

As the race for the next Cross River University of Technology Alumni Association’s leadership heats up, we have seen three very worthy alumni, in the persons of Comrades Eyam Abeng, Bartholomew Obiedom and Agwu Paul; all applied and expressed interest in the Association’s National President Position and duly cleared by the Electoral Committee.

Without attempting to undermine the candidacies and competences of other contestants, there is a name that rings a bell with regard to suitability for our Association’s National President Position. That name is Comrade Eyam Abeng.

Tactful, soft-spoken, focused, matured and well tentacled; Comrade Eyam Abeng’s leadership disposition has endeared him to majority of clear-minded alumni, hence the call for continuity by members of our great Association.

Presently the incumbent President of CRUTECH Alumni, Comrade Abeng’s unprecedented and unparalleled giant strides speak eloquently of his foresight, and vision, which emphasizes the pedestal he is taking the Association to.

Having served the Association meritoriously as Secretary, Board of Trustee (BOT) from 2007-2015 and presently serving as National President from 2015 to date, Comrade Abeng’s scorecard that leaves everybody in awe highlights his wealth of experience and service to the Association, and even more obviously, the imperative for continuity.

With Eyam Abeng re-elected as National President of CRUTECH Alumni, the following projects and programmes would be actualized: Completion of the ongoing CRUTECH Alumni Centre. Phase 1; SIWES Placement of our Students’ Today Alumni Tomorrow; Human capital development of our Alumni members through job placement and entrepreneurship; advancement of linkage with corporate bodies and philanthropists; Building greater synergy, partnership and collaboration with donor agencies and development partners.

Others are aggressive pursuit of infrastructural development of our alma mater; Awareness campaigns against CRUTECH Land Encroachment; Anti-vices Awareness campaigns on our campuses; Integration of our Alumni members into micro and macro governances at all levels; and Advocacy for greater funding of Research and Development (R&D) of our alma mater in collaboration with renowned Research Institutions.

Fellow alumni, let us put the common cause of this great Association ahead of our self aggrandizement and incessant and baseless quest for power. Let us come together, give Abeng another chance to consolidate on the gains of his first administration our Association’s pedigree that tomorrow we will stand shoulder high, priding of having passed through this great citadel of learning called CRUTECH.

A vote for Eyam Abeng is a vote for the betterment of CRUTECH Alumni Association. Vote wisely, comrades.Eyam Abeng: A Compelling Choice for CRUTECH Alumni Association
