Wood Product, Visual Art can generate revenue for Crutech Community– Eyam

The President of Crutech Alumni Mr. Eyam Abeng has commended the Speaker of Cross River State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams for achieving so much within three months in office.

Eyam gave the commendations yesterday the 23rd day of September when he led delegations to the office of Mr. Speaker to congratulate him for his victory at the poll and tribunal respectively.

President expressed displeasure over the insecurity challenges in all our campuses, land encroachment and pleaded that the Governor should increase the Crutech monthly subventions, provide special intervention funds and increased on the 1% LG intervention to 2% to enable Crutech meet’s it demands approximately.

He also solicited for partnership of visual art department with garment factory and Governor should also patronised the wood product department in the construction of wooden benches for primary and secondary school. Crutech Alumni members should be empowered politically – Eyam added.

In responding The Speaker of Cross River State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams opined that Cross River University Of Technology Bill will be the first to be passed by the 9th Assembly.

The private Bill will be sponsored by the Leader of the House Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, if passed and assented to will provide Crutech to offer other courses like Medicine, Law, Pharmacy and others. The name will be called Cross River State University.

According to Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonah, the bill will be seeking to improve the existing structure, removing the clause of stopping the institution from offering other courses and provision of infrastructure, job opportunities, Man power development as well as promotion of teaching and research.

He also stressed on the encroachment of Crutech Land in all the campuses and people are now building inside the school environment. He assured Crutech Alumni that a Bill to put an end to the encroachment of Crutech will be passed and oversight will accompanied it, to ensure it is effective.
